From maleki, avoiding Iran conflict
It is good to see maleki is making good use of his time at MIT. I only
wish he were more forthcoming on other issues. Pay attention to maleki,
I have a feeling he will impact Iranian affairs in a big way soon.

How to Avoid a War With Iran
It won’t be easy -- but it sure beats the alternative.
BY MATTHEW BUNN, ABBAS MALEKI | MAY 21, 2012
Observers would be forgiven for dismissing negotiations over Iran's
nuclear program as Kabuki theater. Despite years of on-again, off-again
efforts, after all, fears of war continue to simmer.
Such frustrations are understandable -- but they may not be entirely
justified. Despite real obstacles, there is a serious chance for
progress if both sides come to the table willing to compromise and
focused on a step-by-step approach that gives each side real gains,
builds confidence, and allows more time for talks on the harder issues.
The next round of negotiations between Iran and world powers, slated for
May 23 in Baghdad, is crucial -- though only the start of a long road.
No one could claim these negotiations will be easy. Iran and the United
States have been locked in mutual hostility since Iran's 1979 Islamic
Revolution, and this enmity has produced deep mistrust and tough
political constraints on both sides. In a U.S. presidential election
year, compromise will be difficult, as no candidate can be seen as
"soft" on Iran -- and in Iran, which has a presidential election next
year, no faction can be seen as advocating retreat in the face of
Western pressure. For a deal to work, both sides have to see it as
genuinely serving their national interests.
Nevertheless, as an American and an Iranian, both of us patriots, we
believe that a negotiated deal is possible. Although genuine clashes of
interests are at stake, we believe our countries would be better served
by such a pact, however imperfect, than by continued stalemate or
military conflict. For Iran, the status quo means ongoing sanctions,
limited access to foreign investment and technology, and the looming
danger of military strikes. For the United States, stalemate means no
negotiated limits on the Iranian nuclear program, continued high oil
prices (reflecting the risks of conflict), and no resolution of
U.S.-Iranian disputes over terrorism, Israel, and more.
If the confrontation deteriorated into a military conflict, it would be
a disaster for both countries' security. Strikes by the United States or
Israel would risk an unpredictable regional conflagration and could
convince Iran to redouble its nuclear efforts and build covert sites
that would be hard to find and strike.
To open the path to an accord, the parties must combine the realism of
small initial steps with a vision of a long-term rapprochement. Early
steps should be designed to build confidence on both sides that it is
worth continuing the process, and to buy time for further talks.
There are a number of ways both sides could bolster confidence in the
negotiating process. Iran should offer to halt its enrichment of uranium
to 20 percent U-235, its buildup of larger stocks of 5 percent enriched
uranium, and its acquisition of ever-more centrifuges as long as the
talks are making progress. As in past proposals, the United States and
Europe should offer to provide low-enriched fuel for the Tehran Research
Reactor in exchange for Iran's agreement to ship a substantial portion
of its enriched uranium out of the country. And Iran should agree to
implement the International Atomic Energy Agency's Additional Protocol,
which allows for broader international inspections of nuclear
facilities, as long as cooperation is moving forward.
At the same time, the United States and Europe should offer to lift the
new oil and banking sanctions now going into effect -- again, as long as
the talks are making progress. Such initiatives would allow each side to
say to skeptics in its own camp: Things are no longer getting worse;
give us more time.
As an early gesture, the United States and Europe could also allow the
shipment of desperately needed spare parts for Iran's civilian aircraft,
which have been blocked under sanctions for decades, and allow Iranian
airliners to refuel and receive normal services in Europe. Iran could
commit to prevent any arms or other assistance from flowing to armed
groups in Iraq or Afghanistan. The sides could also negotiate a pact to
prevent inadvertent clashes in the Persian Gulf and work together to
stop the flow of heroin from Afghanistan into Iran.
None of these interim steps, of course, will be able to produce a
breakthrough unless both Iran and the United States share a long-term
vision of forging a more productive relationship. The nuclear deal that
would be a part of this vision would inevitably involve some level of
continued enrichment in Iran under agreed-upon constraints. Iran would
agree to far-reaching inspections and transparency, including resolving
concerns about past work that the West suspects may have been
weapons-related. The United States and its negotiating partners would
agree that Iran's admissions about past activities will not be punished.
As part of a nuclear agreement, the United States and Europe should help
Iran replace the aging Tehran Research Reactor with a modern facility
outside densely populated Tehran -- and Iran should agree to suspend
construction of the Arak heavy-water reactor, which the West fears is
well suited for plutonium production, as it would no longer be needed.
It's not only the nuclear issue that divides Iran and the United States.
The two countries will have to talk directly to address the many other
issues that divide them, including terrorism, sanctions, regional
security, and more. All participants, including the United States,
should assure Iran that they will not attack or threaten to overthrow
Iran's government as long as Iran complies with the nuclear deal and
does not commit or sponsor aggression. Iran, for its part, proposed a
nonaggression pact with its Persian Gulf neighbors after the Iran-Iraq
War.
Both sides are likely to fear that the other will cheat on its
commitments in such a deal. Both will have to take some risks for peace,
while seeking commitments that are clear and verifiable. But there may
be a chance to build a virtuous cycle: Once the benefits begin to flow,
it will likely be harder for those who would call for ripping up the
deal and returning to confrontation to win the argument.
As difficult as it is, both sides must come to Baghdad this month ready
to offer clear, verifiable first steps on the path toward compromise --
and away from the abyss of armed confrontation.

Two radio shows advocate Iran attack
Yesterday Michael savage discussed on his radio show that Iran would be attacked in September to help the democrats win the presidential election. The day before joe Jacobs discussed with George Noory that Iran would experience major upheavals in September.
That two prominent radio personalities would say this shows that an attack on Iran is being considered in America, and with Iran’s leadership dealing with much infighting this is something to worry about.

Operation Praying Mantis
A preview from my upcoming book in the works, on the anniversarry of OPM
April 18 1988 would turn out to be one of the most disastrous days in the history of the Iranian Navy. On that day an American Naval force composed of 12 warships, led by the USS Coronado LPD-11 approached Bandar Abbas. Battle commenced when Surface Action Group Bravo, composed of the USS Merrill DD-976, USS Lynde McCormick DDG-8, and USS Trenton LPD-14 approached the Sassan Oil Platform. Within 20 minutes of approaching the Sassan Oil Platform Surface Action Group Bravo opened fire on it, silencing the Sassan Oil Platform’s guns and a Marine detachment was send to destroy the Sassan Oil Platform at 9:25 AM, which it did without resistance. However around 12:50 PM, two Iranian F-4 fighter jets made an attack run on Surface Action Group Bravo. Though they were within missile range the pilots reconsidered their attack once they detected that the USS Lynde McCormick had locked it’s fire control radar on the jets. The polits of those jets decided not to take any risks and abandoned their attack. Once Surface Action Group Bravo had destroyed the Sassan Oil Platform it was ordered to destroy the Raksh Oil Platform.
Around the same time Surface Action Group Charlie, composed of the USS Wainwright CG-28, USS Bagley FF-1069, and USS Simpson FFG-56 began their attack on the Sirri Oil Platform. As they made their attack the IS Joshan P-225 made an attack on The USS Wainwright and Iranian PT Craft sortied against American and foreign ships in the Gulf. At 12:15 PM the IS Joshan fires one of it’s Harpoon missiles at the USS Wainwright but misses, despite their brave attack the crew are not used to engaging other fleets in pitched battles. The USS Wainwright and USS Simpson fire their missiles at the IS Joshan disabling it’s main armament before Surface Action Group Charlie sank the IS Joshan with their guns. Determined to avenge the IS Joshan two Iranian F-4’s make an attack on the USS Wainwright which fired at the Iranian jets. One of the Iranian F-4’s was hit on the wing by a SM-2 Missile from the USS Wainwright, and both jets returned to Bandar Abbas, not wanting to continue the action further.
Soon it would be the turn of the Americans to launch air attacks of their own. Around 1:30 PM reports of Iranian PT Craft attacks on the Panamanian Cargo Ship Scan Bay prompt the USS Enterprise CVN-65 to launch an air strike on the Iranian PT Craft in the form of a F-14 and 2 A-6E jet fighters, who begin attacking the Iranian PT Craft around 2:25 PM near Abu Musa.
This only prompted the Iranians to dispatch their Frigates. The first to engage the Americans was the IS Sahand F-74 which made an attack run on the USS Joseph Strauss DDG-16, which along with the USS O’Brien DD-975 and USS Jack Williams FFG-24 comprised Surface Action Group Delta. Bearing down on the USS Joseph Strauss the IS Sahand fired at 2 A-6E jets, and the jets and the USS Joseph Strauss fired back at the IS Sahand, launching 3 Harpoon Missiles and 4 Laser Guided Bombs at the IS Sahand around 3:30 PM. The hits from these bombs and missiles set the IS Sahand ablaze, and by evening the magazine had exploded as a result of the fires and all that the commanding officer of the IS Sahand can do is to maneuver the ship towards shallow water to make it easier for the crew to abandon ship.
Around the same time an AH-1T Helicopter flying reconnaissance from the USS Trenton got mixed up in the crossfire and their helicopter crashes 15 miles southwest of Abu Musa. Despite this the Americans continue to hold control of the conflict. This is lost on the IS Sabalan F-73 left Bandar Abbas around 5:00 PM. Within minutes it is firing it’s harpoon missiles at the A-6E’s it sees, and by 5:15 one of the A-6E fighters drops a bomb down the funnel of the IS Sabalan, causing damage to the engines and soon the IS Sabalan is being towed back to Bandar Abbas.
At the end of April 18, 1988 the American navy had established itself master of the Persian Gulf. That they were facing an Iranian Navy and military that was smaller was no real reason for their victory. Since 1978 the Iranian Military had been severely tested, it’s ranks depleted of it’s best soldiers, and those still serving in Iran’s military tired by the past decade of conflict. The Iranian navy took it the hardest. It was dependent on imports and captured material for new Ships and most weapons, and those Officers and Sailors operating the Ships Iran had did not always have proper training in combat situations. Being used to fighting Iraqi forces who were worse trained, they cracked facing the Americans, and Operation Praying Mantis was to demonstrate this all too well. In many ways Operation Praying Mantis was like Salamis. In both instances Iran lost due to the composition of it’s soldiers, however while at Salamis the flaw was the heterogeneous composition of the Iranian soldiers, the flaw that hit Iran the hardest during Operation Praying Mantis was the overworked and undertrained soldiers who faced the Americans. More would be to come for Iran during the remaining months of khomeini’s rein of terror over Iran.

Zimmerman considers apology
This is just another sign that Zimmerman is being railroaded by the
system because of black supremacist thugs intimidating them just because
this man defended himself. Last time I checked running through
someone's backyard while wearing a hoodie and breaking someone's face
for no reason is thug behavior and trayvon got what he deserved. I dare
the same people who call this racism to see how they would react in the
same situation Zimmerman was in.

George Zimmerman to apologize to Trayvon Martin's family

The lawyer for George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who was
charged with second degree murder in the death of unarmed black teen
Trayvon Martin, said that the 17-year-old's death "weighs on" Zimmerman
and suggested his client might apologize to Martin's family.
"Understand that George fully well realizes that he was involved in some
way in the death of another young man," lawyer Mark O'Mara told ABC
News.
"He does not take the result of that altercation lightly at all. That
weighed on him, I would imagine, more than the isolation, more than the
last six weeks, more probably than the threat of what is to come in the
system," O'Mara said.
Zimmerman spent his first night in prison Thursday in protective
custody, where he could be watched at all times. Law enforcement
sources told ABC News, the 28-year-old "wept quite a bit" at night.
O'Mara suggested that Zimmerman may apologize to Martin's family, says
KBOI.
Attorney Mark O'Mara, who represents Zimmerman, told CNN's Piers Morgan
late Thursday that one of his immediate goals is to "bring down the
level of anger, animosity, just frustrations, emotions" that are on the
periphery of the case.
O'Mara said there are two sides of the case, a legal one and a human
one.
"We have the human tragedy side of it. We are going to try to bridge
that if we can," O'Mara said. "There are words that need to be said."
Special prosecutor Angela Corey, who was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to
investigate the case, said she will ensure that the judge or jury
deciding the case will get only "the relevant, admissible evidence on
which they can then base their decisions."
"Let me emphasize that we do not prosecute by pressure or petition," she
said.
Both the defense and prosecution said they had no intention of trying
the case in the court of public opinion, though both conceded there is
extreme interest, informs CNN.
Zimmerman and his family have maintained that he was trailing Martin
because the young man appeared suspicious. Martin then disappeared from
view, only to re-emerge, confront him and assault him, they say. In the
fight, they contend, he shot Martin in self-defense. Florida's expansive
self-defense law, Stand Your Ground, was cited initially as a reason why
no charges were brought.
O'Mara said self-defense cases were not new to him; he said that he had
handled dozens, but that none had gone to trial as Stand Your Ground
cases. He has also tried high-profile death-penalty cases.
He said that self-defense would probably be a "facet" of Zimmerman's
defense, according to The MIT Tech.

Country’s coinage to watch for 2012
These countries are doing things with their coinage which are sending messages to the World, and not just in matters of finance.
Russia; 2012 sees two very important anniversaries in Russia. The 200th anniversary of the victory at Borodino and over Napoleon’s invasion, and the 1150th anniversary of the founding of Russia, all of which are being honored on precious metal and base metal Roubles. Interestingly Russia is commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Peter Stolypin, who was born in 1863, in 2012, probably not to conflict with the Viktor Chernomyrdin commemorative to be issued in 2013, and apparently Russia is not saying if their Russian Federation 10 Rouble series is being put on hiatus. One thing is noticeable, Russia and other CIS nations have been having trouble distributing their coins aborad, mainly because of trouble from british commonwealth nations.
British commonwealth; Two major themes are dominating precious metal and base metal coinage in 2012. They are queen Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee, the second is the centennial of the Titanic disaster. Interestingly Canada is ceasing production of pennies this year as well.
USA; This year American mint and proof sets are hot items, as Presidential Dollars are no longer being made for circulation. Interesting 2012, like 2008, is an election year in America, and statehood quarters for Hawaii and Alaska will be issued for 2012, though not in the order they were in 2008. Also interesting is the precious metal commemoratives for the Stat-Spangled Banner are being issued in 2012 but none contain the text of that poem used for the national anthem.
EU: Austria is finally getting in on the “statehood quarter” game, one year after Spain issued their own version of the statehood quarter program. So far foreign versions of this program have been imitated by Russia, Germany, Japan, Australia, Finland, Venezuela, to name the more prominent countries involved.

Worldwide Carrier news roundup
This news is important. While the world focuses on Russia and China the rest of the World is very active. While the news from India and Brazil is to be expected, Japan is clearly preparing for some kind of war. Most definitely is Australia, and the Canberra being completed so quick shows Australia is planning some kind of offensive war, either on Iran or somewhere in the Pacific. Notice the news from Turkey as well, though this comes after Iran’s announcement about developing the ability to build a Carrier, Turkey is scrapping the ex-hms invincible, and may be studying it’s design.
Indian Navy to Buy 4 Landing Ships

Indian Navy issued a tender for 4 landing helicopter-carrying dock ships.
According to Indian defense Ministry A.K. Antony, national defense procurement council has already approved acquirement of four large-size landing ships.
As for the ministry, these ships will improve Indian Navy's landing capabilities and make possible to conduct rescue operations in regions suffered from natural disasters and emergencies.
According to Mer et Marine, Indian Navy command had consulted with domestic shipbuilders, but they could not offer an adequate project. For this reason, the navy sent requests to foreign companies.
As is expected, the tender will be attended by French, Italian, Spanish, and South Korean companies.
Most probably, French DCNS would offer Mistral-class assault landing ship operated by French Navy and purchased by Russia, Spanish Navantia – Juan Carlos I type (Project BPE - Buque de Proyeccion Estrategica), Italian Fincantieri – Multifunction Ship (MS), and South Korean Hanjin Heavy Industries – Dokdo class landing helicopter carrier.
DCNS and Fincantieri have a kind of advantage because they have already signed naval-related contracts with Indian Navy. DCNS builds Scorpene-class submarines and Fincantieri – Deepak-type fuel replenishment tankers. Besides, the Italian company takes part in construction of the first Indian aircraft carrier.
In Sept 2011 Indian Navy and state-led company Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (Calcutta) signed a contract for construction of 8 landing boats LCU to protect islands better and strengthen amphibious fleet. The boats are expected to join Indian Navy in 2013-2015.
Japan To Build Another Carrier
16.09.2011

Japan plans to build another helicopter-carrying ship in reply to China's acquirement of its first home-made flattop, reports Korean information agency Cho Sun.
The information that China had started construction of its first aircraft carrier was circulated by Chinese media on Wednesday. Reportedly, the first Chinese-built carrier would be 320-meter long accomodating 50 deck-based aircrafts.
As a reaction, Japan intends to build a helicopter carrier of new type – Project 22DDH – with displacement of 19,500 tons. Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force currently operates two new heli-carriers Hyuga and Ise commissioned in March 2009 and March 2011 respectively. However, a Project 22DDH carrier planned to be put in service in 2015 will be significantly larger with length of 248 meters and 14 helicopters on board. The ship's construction is evaluated as $1.04 bln.
Carriers of the previous type have length of 197 meters, displacement of 13,500 tons, and 11 helicopters on board. Despite smaller size comparing to the Chinese aircraft carrier, the Japanese ship will be equipped with the most up-to-date US-made arms including new onboard air/missile defense system designed by Raytheon.
During WW2 Japanese Navy did operate aircraft carriers, but having lost the war, it renounced the concept of such ships shifting to helicopter carriers which were more effective against basic threat of the post-war period, i.e. Chinese and Soviet submarines. Helicopters based on new ships are mostly ASW-oriented as well. In its turn, China is aware of Japan's possible acquirement of American aircrafts F-35B which easily transform any ASW helicopter-carrying ship into attack aircraft carrier.
Japan seems strongly about to modify Project 22DDH into a full-fledged aircraft carrier. However, analysts regard such possibility with skepticism, since having an aircraft carrier is inexpedient for the country with overall Navy's manpower of 45,000 and being in tight economic situation.
In addition, Japan implements several large military projects; JPY 39 bln have been spent for national 5-gen fighter which is expected to take off in 2014, and JPY 15 bln – for unmanned vehicles and various robots.
Australian Defense Ministry: Construction of Heli-Carriers Goes Ahead of Schedule

Construction of the lead Canberra-class helicopter carrier at Spanish shipyard Navantia is on schedule, the second ship HMAS Adelaide is built ahead of schedule, said Australian defense minister Stephen Smith and minister for defence material Jason Clare on Dec 13 at commissioning ceremony of landing ship HMAS Choules, reports Australian Navy's website.
Recall that Australian Navy tied a $3-bln contract for two prospective helicopter carriers with Navantia in 2007. The hulls are built by Navantia, bridges – by BAE Systems at Williamstown Shipyard in Melbourne; ship assembling will be also carried out by BAE Systems.
At the moment, Navantia has constructed all 105 sections of Canberra's hull, launched her, and conducts finishing works including assemblage of medical compartment, living accommodations, and store rooms. The hull is expected to leave Spain on heavy transport ship in July 2012 and arrive in Melbourne in Aug 2012.
Four bridges and 3 mast elements of HMAS Canberra have been built at Williamstown Shipyard since June 2011. The hull-to-island attachment is scheduled in the end of 2012.
Kiel for HMAS Adelaide was laid down in Feb 2011. By now, 60 out of 105 sections have been mounted on the slipway, 27 are under construction, and 18 are being painted before putting on the slipway. The ship is expected to be launched in third quarter of 2012.
Over 400,000 working hours were spent on the ships' construction in Australia.
Canberra-class landing ships will be the largest warships ever operated by Australian Navy. Displacement is 27,851 tons; length is 230.8 meters; beam is 32 meters; draft is 7.18 meters; speed is 20.5 knots; crew is 243 men (max 279 men), troop capacity is 978 men (max 1,124 men); deck capacity is 3,290 sq meters (up to 100 armored vehicles), helicopter hangar capacity is 990 square meters; air wing is 12-24 helicopters; armament is 4 x 25-mm deck-based stabilized gun mounts.
Brazil would possibly buy two Mistrals

Brazilian Navy nourishes an idea to purchase at least two assault landing ships. Those ships should have a "double football ground" deck and be capable to perform wide range of missions – transport infantry, tanks, helicopters, landing craft, missiles, have onboard hospital, and carry out functions of a "sophisticated analytic center", i.e. command ship.
Each of those vessels costs today $600-850 mln. Procurement plan of such ships is considered to be "ambitious". According to Brazilian Navy Commander ADM Julio Moura Neto, acquirement of those ships depends on budgetary funds available; the ship's type has not been chosen so far".
The most competitive suppliers are the US and France. Reportedly, France has developed advanced variant of Mistral class assault landing ship. Russia is about to purchase four such ships.
Assault landing ships must be capable to transport 900-1,400 men of landing party, 280 self-propelled vehicles, and 30 helicopters at the range of up to 5,000 km; operate 10 days autonomously 100 miles away from landing zone. Such ship should have early warning helicopters to support fighters covering the ship. In high seas the ship should be protected by escort ships.
An assault landing ship is virtually autonomous. Apart from helicopters, tanks, armored transport vehicles, and hundreds of marines on board, such ship has a hospital capable to conduct any surgical operations. Sophisticated electronics interfaced with encrypted communication satellite systems is located in command post at the level of 15th floor.
There are some political reasons in favor of these big ships. As is known, Brazil strives for being a member of UN Security Council, and such ships would raise prestige of the country; old aircraft carrier San Paulo plays no part any more. Brazilian Navy plans to purchase 61 ships within 20 years. When having assault landing ships in inventory, Brazil will be able to attend various multinational transcontinental operations, which is a requirement to the world-leading countries.
Turkey is capable to build a carrier – national defense industry

Turkish shipbuilding industry has sufficient capabilities to build an aircraft carrier, said director of Turkey's defense industry department Murad Bayar.
According to him, to create carrier strike group, Turkey should have two new destroyers, one submarine, four missile boats, 40 deck-based fighters, and multipurpose/antisubmarine/antisurface helicopters. The crew of a carrier (depending on dimensions) may number 1,000-5,000 men.
At present, Turkish defense industry covers requirements of national armed forces on 52.1%. Its total turnover has reached $2.7 bln, export – $ 853 mln, annual expenditure on research and development is evaluated as $600 mln.

Getting it right; Naval Ship classifications
If there is one thing that continues to plague people in naval Affairs it is the classification of ships. Namely the fact that a naval force will classify a Warship in a way that does not properly denote it’s fighting capabilitiy. This I have noticed too often today and can elucidate many excellent examples. Among the major culprits are the Iranian, EU/NATO naval forces, and Janes Defense.
Most famously the Iranian Navy has the habit of calling it’s Frigates Destroyers, it’s Corvettes and Fast Attack Craft Frigates, and it’s Command/Logistical Support Ship Kharg a Battleship. While the Kharg can deploy commando units which can take out a Battleship it certainly does not have the armament of a Battleship. In the other instances Iran’s navy has been basing it’s classification on size rather than fighting capability. For Instance Iran classifies the Jamaran class and Alvand class FFG’s as Destroyers, yet the only Destroyers they have the same fighting capability as are the WWII clunkers operated by countries like Pakistan and Taiwan, the Canadian Iroquois class DDG’s which are slightly larger than the Jamaran and most Frigates but have a fire control system more advanced than any FFG, and the Sachsen, Brandenburg, De Zeven Provincen, and Alvaro de Bazan Destroyers, which NATO classifies as frigates, but which in reality have an armament heavier than most Destroyers, in the case of the first two a reduced weapons payload to comply with an antiquated WWII treaties, the same which has plagued Japan, which I will describe later. Interestingly, by this classification Iran has both inspired foreign powers to step up it’s naval arms, for instance Saudi Arabia was going to buy some Type 45 class DDG’s from the UK because of Jamaran until the specifications of Jamaran became public, and continued scorn.
However, a similar type of scorn exists Worldwide for the EU and NATO’s similar underclassification of their Warships. In this instance tonnage and displacement take precedence over fighting capability when deciding how to classify a Warship. In doing so they are giving the false impression that how much a Warship weighs is more important than how it performs in a combat situation. For instance if the FGS Sachsen were to find itself in a combat situation with either a Jamaran class FFG or an Arleigh Burke class DDG the Sachsen could easily neutralize either Warship in a combat situation, not because of it’s tonnage but because of it’s armament. The fact that not only Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain, but also Sweden, Denmark, France, Argentina, and other NATO countries do this shows a lack of understanding of the combat role a Warship plays, focusing instead on the political aspect of such names. In the case of Germany there is a degree of understanding with the constitution they had to adopt after WWII, though with the current World situation this constitution is anachronistic, as is the classification by the other NATO powers. In the case of such ships like the Swedish Visby and Danish Theits class Frigates to call the former a Corvette and the latter a Patrol Boat is simply ridiculous. Not as ludicrious as the British, with their dearth of overclassification names, like offshore patrol vessel, inshore patrol vessel
Most notably Russia and Japan have been messing with these NATO classifications with their new warships. For instance the Russians classify the new Admiral Gorshkov Destroyers as Frigates, the Tatarstan, Steregushchy, and Gremyashchy classes of Frigates as Corvettes, though in the case of the Steregushchy the Russian Navy does call them Frigates on their website, though in doing so the Russians are belittling the combat capabilities of these ships. India behaves in a similar manner, calling the Kamrota, Kora, and Khurki classes of Frigates Corvettes, and the Shivalik class of Warships could be classified as Destroyers with their combat capability.
With the Japanese for them to call their new Hyuga class Helicopter Carriers Destroyers and their Osumi class Amphibious Assault Ships Landing Craft is ludicrous, though like Germany Japan has a constitution given to them after WWII which limits their armed forces, and like Germany the current World situation makes this constitution anachronistic.
Curiously the US navy is now getting in on this, by classifying the new Freedom and Independence classes of Frigates as Littoral Combat Ships. While this demonstrates one of the purposes of construction, the terminology is overelaborate.
When naming classes of Warships one should make sure the name fits the function, and not some political agenda. This is something even the best people in Naval affairs forget.

Update on more shit u/watson weirdness
Recently I learned that simmons is not the only shakeup at brown. Additionally the watson institute has recieved it's fourth director in the four years since I left. Additionally david kertzer has left as brown provost, though he is still with the anthropology dpt.
More noticeable is that brown has pulled their international writers fellowship program, shortly after I talked Shahriar Mandanipour about the misdeeds at brown. Interestingly enough gusenbauer has left watson, though the aga khan has resumed giving money to the middle east studies department, full of the same discredible zionist/cfr asskissers.

Questionable unicef food aid by british and danish royals
What gets me is the fact that both the danish crown couple as well as wills and kate would not eat the prepared genetically modified food, nor would kate try the gm peanut paste, which tells me that both the british and danish are aware this gm food is some form of bioweapon. Bear in mind the health problems gm food causes, or the damage that gm food, mainly monsanto gm food, does to the environment. Not to mention the blatant disregard of non-Europeans shown by both the windsors and glucksburgs, including wills and kate scheduling their wedding on what would have been Prince Ali-Reza's birthday had he not been murdered the January before, or how danish troops have committed acts of brutality against people in Libya.

William and Kate in Unicef visit to Denmark aid centre
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are visiting Denmark to learn more about the work of children's charity Unicef in East Africa.
An estimated 12 million people in the region are at risk of starvation because of food shortages, and famine has been declared in Somalia.
The royal couple are touring Unicef's emergency supply centre in Copenhagen.
The UK is giving £200m in aid to the affected region, £72m of which has been raised through public donations.
Raise profile
After their arrival at the supply centre, the couple were offered a taste of the special high-protein peanut paste which is sent to malnourished children in Africa.
The duke took a sample before passing it on to the duchess, who declined to taste it and passed it over to Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, who accompanied them on the visit.
The crown prince and crown princess also tasted a multivitamin paste, but no-one tried the tray of muffins made with a corn soya blend.
They were given a briefing by Peter Hailey, senior nutritional manager at Unicef, on the crisis threatening the region and details on nutrition and food being provided for people in the area.
After the briefing the two royal couples were taken into the supply centre's warehouse, which is the size of three football pitches, where they helped to pack boxes.
Prince William said he hoped his visit would raise the profile of the charity's work in the region.
'Horrendous situation'
"I think what has touched me the most is probably the fact there's an incredible amount being done," he said. "Unicef are leading the way and they're doing a fantastic job.
"Sadly there's still a lot more to do and that's why we're here today, to try our best to put Unicef ahead of the system again and get as many people as possible realising the truly horrendous situation going on in East Africa."
The duchess said she wanted to remind people who may have forgotten about the crisis.
"I think it was initially a very big story," she said. "A lot of people did hear about it, but I think because it has been going on, people have perhaps lost track of this terrible situation.
"So I think this, hopefully, will put the light back on this crisis.
She added that she was "shocked by some of the statistics and I think other people would be if they'd lost track of the story".
Airport visit
After their tour of the site they attended a private reception at Unicef, which included Unicef ambassador Sir Roger Moore.
Speaking after their meeting, Sir Roger said: "We just discussed what they had seen and what their thoughts were and how glad they were that they came to support this extraordinary appeal.
"They are both very interested in east Africa, they were engaged in Kenya, it's so close to their hearts.
"It was just reiterating their passion for this cause and I think it must be a passion otherwise the royals wouldn't just give up a day of their very busy lives and the high demands there are on them for attending all sorts of functions - and that's apart from the RAF duties of the duke."
The royal couple then arrived at Copenhagen Airport to view a British Airways Boeing 747 before it left to make a relief flight carrying 45 tonnes of aid, including emergency medical supplies, to East Africa.
BA has lent the aircraft to Unicef for a flight to Nairobi in Kenya where the items will be distributed by the charity and other aid agencies.
The duke and duchess spoke to British Airways staff about the amount of aid being taken on board before being shown the interior of the aircraft and the overhead bins full of boxes of supplies.
David Bull, executive director of Unicef UK, said the supplies would help to save the lives of malnourished children.
The worst drought in East Africa in 60 years has resulted in severe food shortages across Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti.
By going to the Unicef centre in the Danish capital, Prince William and Catherine are seeking to maintain a global focus on what is a long-term situation.
Third engagement
A spokesman for St James's Palace said the visit was instigated by the duke and duchess.
He said: "This visit has come about through a mutual meeting of minds between the two royal couples.
"The crown prince and crown princess have already shown a very keen interest in the terrible tragedy that's unfolding in East Africa and the crown princess has been to Kenya.
"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have personal links in Kenya - they have friends there, they got engaged there, they've visited many times and they've followed the tragedy unfolding not only on the news but also from people they know on the ground."
BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt, in Copenhagen, says William and his wife attract intense attention wherever they go in the world.
William wants to exploit this interest and focus it on the plight of people living in East Africa, our correspondent adds.
This is the couple's first joint humanitarian mission and their third official engagement since their wedding in April. They flew out on Wednesday morning and will return on the evening of the same day.

Last deployment of the USS Enterprise
People forget the history the Enterprise has had, be it it's involvement
in operation preying mantis, the gulf wars and war on terror, and the
recent attacks on Libya. Despite this being a historic ship it's hull
is very vulnerable to attack, and although this ship deserves to be
preserved, should it be preserved as a museum or a wreck like the
Rafaello in front of the Bushehr reactor. Something could happen with
this ship.

Carrier Enterprise leaves for final deployment

ABOARD THE ENTERPRISE — Accompanied by three blasts of the ship’s horn,
the oldest active warship in the Navy shoved off from Norfolk Naval
Base’s Pier 12 at 11:50 a.m. on a bright, mild Sunday. As big ships
will, the carrier Enterprise moved almost imperceptibly at first,
gradually gaining momentum as she moved silently away from the pier and
backward out of her berth.
A surprisingly small crowd of well-wishers, kept off the pier by
security, watched with little fanfare as the ship’s crew lined the
flight deck and looked back. A group of U.S. Marines, on board as part
of a Marine strike fighter squadron, stood front and center at the
foremost end of the deck. It was a minor blast from the past and
harkened back to the days of the Enterprise’s youth when Marines formed
a portion of every major Navy ship’s company.
A group of officers on board the amphibious ship Mesa Verde, berthed
across from the carrier, rushed to have their picture taken one last
time with the distinctive island structure of the Enterprise in the
background. On the opposite side of the berth, a small group of sailors
gathered on the flight deck of the Navy’s newest carrier, the George H.
W. Bush, to watch the historic departure.
Two helicopters from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 11 lifted off
from the Big E’s flight deck, carrying Navy photographers to document
the 50-year-old ship’s departure on her 22nd and final deployment.
Although it was a Sunday, virtually no spectator craft were present as
the Enterprise shifted into forward gear and headed down the familiar
Norfolk ship channel to the sea. Only a Coast Guard security patrol
escorted the carrier as she passed a handful of spectators on nearby
Fort Monroe.
Off Virginia Beach, the Enterprise — one of the most recognizable ships
ever built — passed a long line of nondescript merchant ships waiting to
enter the Hampton Roads port. Flight operations began as a dozen F/A-18
jets from the four strike fighter squadrons of Carrier Air Wing 1 came
aboard to recertify their flight deck qualifications. The thunder of jet
aircraft continued into the night as the Enterprise steamed under a
million stars and a phosphorescent wake trailed behind.
More than 5,000 sailors on board the ship quickly adopted a seagoing
routine — stowing gear, checking equipment and working out wherever they
could. A workmanlike atmosphere prevailed throughout the 1,123-foot-long
ship.
Shortly after leaving Norfolk, ocean storms already were causing
navigators to adjust the planned course for the Enterprise and her
escorts to cross the Atlantic. The ships would maneuver to avoid the
heavy seas as best they could.
Behind, the strike group was leaving a country where the media featured
daily stories about a virtual civil war in Syria, a deteriorating
political situation in Afghanistan and increasing signs of some sort of
military action against Iran’s nuclear program.
Ahead, the Enterprise and her group faced at least seven and a half
months of steaming on the other side of the world, in a region where
those stories could become far more real at any given moment.

The truth about “esther”
Recently the story of esther has been brought in the news with the zionist drive to attack Iran. Few people realize that the story of esther from jewish traditions which is in the old testament of the bible, is one of the greatest hoaxes ever told.
First, there is no evidence that Khashayar, who the Greeks call xerxes and the jews ahaserus, had a Queen named Esther. Khashayar’s Queen consort was named Amastra, not Esther, and many historians have mislabeled her tomb in modern day Hamadan as the tomb of “esther” by mistranslating Amastra for Esther, however these same historians neglect to mention that Amastra was not of Hebrew or Jewish origin.
These same historians gloss over the fact that a member of Khashayar’s harem was in fact named esther, as this esther is refered to as a banukha, or harem girl. However this esther never had a brother named mordecai nor did she uncover any plot to murder the jews of Hakhamanish Iran. The evidence is not there, and the story only gets traction because the majority of people who read the bible are familiar only with the king james or new international versions, and have never read or researched the original source material.
The modern zionist obsession with the purim festival, supposedly to commemorate the story of “esther”, comes from the execution of julius streicher on October 16, 1946 in Nuremberg. Streicher was of jewish origin, and like many self hating jews in Weimar Germany joined the nazi party. Streicher’s popularity was in his slanderous stories of jewish “atrocities” in the news, and even the nazis stripped him from all positions of power in 1940. At his execution before he was hanged he claimed that this was the 1946 observance of purim, and even said prophetically to the executioner that the communists would hang him. Therefore the observance of purim by Zionists kicks around the myth of “esther” to mask the celebration of the executions of nazis at Nuremberg, notably streicher.
Today one must look at hard facts of established myths who’s only basis for credibility is that they have been repeated so often they are accepted as truth, particularly by people many are hesitant to criticize. The story of “esther” is one of them, and the more we look at it, the more it is seen as another example of jewish lying.

Iran invasion backed by reza pahlavi
Once again reza pahlavi shows he is not fit to call himself Shah or any
kind of leader. The arab spring has made living conditions in Egypt and
Libya worse, as well as in Bahrain, Algreia, Syria, and has only spread
violence in the name of the same radical Islam which khomeini brought to
Iran, and which moderates inside Iran are eroding by themselves. This
statement by reza pahlavi is nothing short of incitement to invasion by
Iran.

Reza Pahlavi, the son and heir to the last Shah, wants to revive the
opposition by uniting critics of the regime behind a common platform. He
sees Friday’s elections for the Iranian Majlis, or parliament, as an
opportunity.
Calls for a boycott are circulating widely inside the country and
activists hope to push the turnout to a record low.
There have also been warnings from hardliners that President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad was prepared to use the interior ministry to rig the ballot
boxes.
“I believe we can find unanimity among a diverse group of forces for the elimination of a system in which the regime tries everything to claim legitimacy,” the prince said.
“We are waiting for this boycott to show that the regime is only hanging on by sheer terror. The last time Iran voted, the regime was not even willing to tolerate its own candidates. There is no more faith in its system.”
The vote will also, the prince points out, be the first since the Arab
Spring movement transformed the Middle East. At 17, the prince left Iran
for America and has been in exile since his father was deposed in 1979.
A lifetime of opposition to the Islamic regime has left him open to any
form of government that would supplant the current system, including a
constitutional monarchy, a Westminster-style democracy or a
French-modelled presidency.
The prince is vehemently opposed to a military strike on Iran’s nuclear
facilities. As an alternative, he calls for tighter sanctions to be
combined with overt support for the opposition.
“I don’t think anyone in their right mind thinks you could stop the regime from developing nuclear weapons,” he said.
“What you would do is delay it but then give the regime the scope to retaliate. This would be poison. The cost would be huge for the people of Iran. Instead of bringing the state to the point of an uncontrolled explosion with no plan in mind, there is a better alternative.
“We propose a national congress that clearly sets out our proposals for changing the regime.
“You can support this, or try your chances with military action without a clear idea of the outcome.”

Iran attack condoned by american/zionist governments
This news forever shows that Iran can never trusts the governments of
america and israel, and that it must do everything to defend itself.
This also shows that Iranians can not trust members of the jewish
community. While many may dismiss this as talk the threat of invasion
is real, atacks on Iranians in america are real, and zionists
machinations against Iranians are real. Not to mention the history of
lying netanyahu has since Waldheim's days, or the history of the nigger
in the white house bowing to pressure from outside sources. Interesting
this news about the scroll of esther as a gift, as the story of esther
is one of the greatest fabrications in history. Curious that the
zionists are not reporting reza pahlavi now openly backing invasion of
Iran. Or how Russia is organizing the rest of the World to pounce on
america and their zionist backers if war with Iran occurs.

Netanyahu addresses AIPAC (Video: Reuters)
Netanyahu was quick to focus on the nuclear threat posed by Iran: "Every
day, I open a newspaper and read about deadlines and red lines, about
what Israel might do and will do – but I won't talk about that. I will
never talk about that. As the prime minister of Israel, I will not
gamble with its security."
"I want to explain about the dangers of Iran, and why Iran should never
be allowed to develop nuclear weapons," Netanyahu continued.
'If it walks like a duck…'
"President Obama stated clearly that the US wants to prevent Iran from
having nuclear weapons and that… all options are on the table. Israel
has the same policy – we're determined to prevent Iran from having
nuclear weapons and we leave all options on the table.

"Israel has patiently waited for the international community to resolve
this issue. We've waited for
diplomacy to work, we've waited for sanctions to work. None of us can
afford to wait much longer," he said.
"Iran says that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but I say
– if it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck
– it's a duck. But this is a nuclear duck! And It is impossible to
believe that the world's most dangerous regime won't use the world most
dangerous weapon.
"A nuclear-armed Iran," he warned, "Will embolden its proxies, like
Hezbollah, to attack Israel and US targets. And they will. They'll be
doing so backed by a nuclear regime. A nuclear-armed Iran could choke
the world's oil supplies. It could blackmail the world on oil."
A nuclear-armed Iran is likely to spark an arms race in the Middle East,
he continued, "And the worst nightmare – a nuclear-armed Iran could
threaten all of us with nuclear terrorism."
"The Jewish state will not allow those who seek our annihilation to
develop such weapons. A nuclear Iran must be stopped," Netanyahu stated.
"When it comes to Israel's survival we must always remain masters of our
fate."

During his meeting with the American president earlier Monday, Netanyahu
reportedly stressed that Israel has yet to reach a decision regarding a
possible strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Speaking with reports after the meeting, Netanyahu said that "the
Israeli position was met with understanding."
Obama addressed the AIPAC conference on Sunday and reiterated the United
States' commitment to Israel's defense and security, as well as its
resolve to stop Iran from achieving nuclear weapons.
"Iran's leaders should know that I do not have a policy of containment;
I have a policy to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. And as
I’ve made clear time and again during the course of my presidency, I
will not hesitate to use force when it is necessary to defend the United
States and its interests," Obama declared.

Obama addresses AIPAC conference (Video: Reuters)
"That is why America’s commitment to Israel has endured under Democratic
and Republican Presidents, and congressional leaders of both parties. In
the United States, our support for Israel is bipartisan, and that is how
it should stay.
"Four years ago, I stood before you and said that 'Israel’s security is
sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable.' That belief has guided my actions as
President. The fact is, my Administration’s commitment to Israel’s
security has been unprecedented. Our military and intelligence
cooperation has never been closer. Our joint exercises and training have
never been more robust.

'We all prefer diplomatic solution.' Obama at AIPAC conference
On the eve of his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Obama
said that "despite a tough budget environment, our security assistance
has increased every year. We are investing in new capabilities. We’re
providing Israel with more advanced technology – the type of products
and systems that only go to our closest friends and allies. And make no
mistake: we will do what it takes to preserve Israel’s qualitative
military edge – because Israel must always have the ability to defend
itself, by itself, against any threat," the American leader said.
Addressing the Iranian threat, the US president said, "Let’s begin with
a basic truth that you all understand: no Israeli government can
tolerate a nuclear weapon in the hands of a regime that denies the
Holocaust, threatens to wipe Israel off the map, and sponsors terrorist
groups committed to Israel’s destruction. And so I understand the
profound historical obligation that weighs on the shoulders of Bibi
Netanyahu, Ehud Barak, and all of Israel’s leaders.

"A nuclear-armed Iran is completely counter to Israel’s security
interests. But it is also counter to the national security interests of
the United States. Indeed, the entire world has an interest in
preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. A nuclear-armed Iran
would thoroughly undermine the non-proliferation regime that we have
done so much to build. There are risks that an Iranian nuclear weapon
could fall into the hands of a terrorist organization," he added.
"It is almost certain that others in the region would feel compelled to
get their own nuclear weapon, triggering an arms race in one of the most
volatile regions in the world. It would embolden a regime that has
brutalized its own people, and it would embolden Iran’s proxies, who
have carried out terrorist attacks from the Levant to southwest Asia."
The president continued to say that "we all prefer to resolve this issue
diplomatically. Having said that, Iran’s leaders should have no doubt
about the resolve of the United States, just as they should not doubt
Israel’s sovereign right to make its own decisions about what is
required to meet its security needs. I have said that when it comes to
preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, I will take no options
off the table, and I mean what I say. That includes all elements of
American power. A political effort aimed at isolating Iran; a diplomatic
effort to sustain our coalition and ensure that the Iranian program is
monitored; an economic effort to impose crippling sanctions; and, yes, a
military effort to be prepared for any contingency.
"Iran’s leaders should know that I do not have a policy of containment;
I have a policy to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. And as
I’ve made clear time and again during the course of my presidency, I
will not hesitate to use force when it is necessary to defend the United
States and its interests," Obama declared.
The American leader also addressed the stalled peace Mideast peace
negotiations, saying, "Of course, there are those who question not my
security and diplomatic commitments, but my Administration’s ongoing
pursuit of peace between Israelis and Palestinians. So let me say this:
I make no apologies for pursuing peace. Israel’s own leaders understand
the necessity of peace. Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister
Barak, and President Peres – each of them have called for two states, a
secure Israel that lives side by side with an independent Palestinian
state.
"I believe that peace is profoundly in Israel’s security interest. The
reality that Israel faces – from shifting demographics, to emerging
technologies, to an extremely difficult international environment –
demands a resolution of this issue. And I believe that peace with the
Palestinians is consistent with Israel’s founding values – because of
our shared belief in self-determination; and because Israel’s place as a
Jewish and democratic state must be protected," Obama added.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu handed US President Barack Obama a
gift on Monday that spoke volumes about Israel’s tensions with Iran – an
ancient Hebrew tome about a Persian plot to annihilate Jews, otherwise
known as the Scroll of Esther.
The Scroll, or the Megila, tells a tale of palace intrigue featuring a
Jewish beauty, Queen Esther, who charms a Persian king into foiling an
evil adviser’s genocidal plans for her people some 2,500 years ago.
“Then too, they wanted to wipe us out,” Netanyahu told Obama, according to an Israeli official.
Jews around the world will gather in synagogues on Wednesday to read the
Megila, on the eve of the Jewish holiday of Purim, a celebration of
salvation and of turning the tables on one’s foes.
“And the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and with slaughter and destruction, and did what they would unto them that hated them,” one of the verses says.
Netanyahu, who has called Iran’s nuclear program a threat to the Jewish
state’s existence, made a point of telling reporters after his White
House meeting with the president that he had given the Megila to Obama.
The Israeli leader, in a frosty meeting with Obama last May, lectured
the president on Jewish history and criticized his approach to resolving
the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Netanyahu has also invoked the lessons of the Nazi Holocaust, in which
six million Jews were killed, in citing the dangers he says a
nuclear-armed Iran – the modern-day Persia – would pose.
Obama appealed to Netanyahu at their White House meeting to give
economic sanctions time to work, amid concern that Israel, widely
believed to be the Middle East’s only nuclear power, could strike
Iranian atomic sites.
Iran says it is enriching uranium for peaceful purposes.

america and israel, and that it must do everything to defend itself.

"Iran's leaders should know that I do not have a policy of containment;

"Iran’s leaders should know that I do not have a policy of containment;

Was Zendran set up by occupiers and why?
In viewing the events of the first 10 days in October in the occupy movement and events which occurred around the occupy movement one has every reason to believe that the occupiers wanted revenge on Zendran, for while they had common enemies the difference is that many of them are government provaceturs, acting to hijack movements. Bear in mind that on October 8 2011 I positively identified charles feldman, a RI government official who had looted state funds and misrepresented disabled people, and martin lazzareschi, someone who has impersonated a cop for years, as provaceturs, and that I had blocked the occupy college hill group from merging with the occupy providence group because of the former’s unwillingness to come out in support of local activists harassed by brown university.
The members of occupy providence knew that I’d be travelling to Boston on October 12 and to New York later on October 27 and would have seen firsthand the other occupy movements, and perhaps the other occupiers were afraid I would spot government provaceturs there and out them as well. As the only occupiers who I had talked with at length were jared paul, ike mccarthy, atermis moonhawk, and joyce katzberg, who I later learned had set me up to prevent me from exposing them as provaceturs. In the past jared paul and his friends had coerced me into giving them contact info for CALEA in July 2007 days after the alex svoboda incident, knowing I didn’t attend they threatened to spread rumors I was a snitch for not attending, knowing I had issues with the people who created that incident. I also had confrontations with food not bombs over their vegan supremacist beliefs and with the friends of the our abovementioned at the December 10, 2002 demo against ehud barak and the April 1, 2003 demo against richard perle with friends of the abovementioned provaceturs. As it would turn out the punks who attacked and tried to rob me lived in the same neighborhood as many on the occupy providence provaceturs do.
That the occupy providence punks had the backing of people in government is all too evident when one looks at the facts. The day I was arraigned a teach-in was held at which mike kennedy, the former director of the watson institute and a cfr affiliate, gave a speech

Additionally both RI governor lincoln chafee, RI senator sheldon whitehouse, RI congressman cicilline, and providence mayor taveras openly came out in support of the occupiers, which was one of the main reasons for the cops not shutting them down, and it was only from popular outrage that the occupiers finally decided to end their encampment. All four of those political figures have had serious issues with me and each would have had an excuse to want me out of the way.
This is particularly true for cicilline, who had targeted me for police harassment while providence mayor, for my investigating him on accusations of rape in 1998 while working as an advocate when he was a RI state legislator. In the case of chafee I had spoken with a member of the US Army on how chafee and other RI political leaders had lied in exaggerating the damage caused by Hurricane Irene. I had also mentioned to that Army soldier about my travel plans for October 12, 2011, namely how I had planned to meet with firouz naderi later that day at a talk he was giving about life outside earth. Seeing how I had documented how the strange weather of September 30/October 1 2011 was caused by ET’s and the strange objects that had appeared in the sky over Boston around the same time this must be mentioned.

Iran security news roundup
It is good to see Russia showing spine over Iran, and one should expect
China, India, and the rest of the non-anglo World to follow Russia's
lead. Notice with this news about what nato plans to do also justifies
Russian actions, for nato has no business dealing with Iran and Syria,
let alone that part of the World, in the first place.

Russia Renews Opposition to Military Option against Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian top diplomat Sergei Lavrov reiterated his
country's strong opposition to using military force against Iran, and
urged a negotiated end to the differences between Iran and the West.
Lavrov said on Monday that his country will not accept use of military
force against Iran.
Stressing his country's stance against any probable military action
against Iran, Lavrov said in a press conference with his Emirati
counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al- Nahyan in Moscow that Iran's nuclear
issue must be resolved through political means.
He said Russia is concerned about developments on Iran's nuclear
programs and believes that the only way to solve it is through peaceful
means, and taking any the military action must be completely removed
from the agenda.
"Russia is interested in establishing peace and stability in the Middle
East region and is ready to negotiate with all UN Security Council
members to reach a consensus on establishment of security in the Persian
Gulf," the Russian foreign minister said.
The Russian foreign ministry had earlier rapped the Zionist regime for
its war rhetoric against Iran, and cautioned that the approach will
increase tensions and have dire consequences.
On Wednesday, Mikhail Ulyanov, the head of Security and Disarmament
Department at Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced Tel Aviv's
hawkish rhetoric on Iran over its nuclear program as "inventions" that
"are increasing the tension and could encourage moves towards a military
solution with catastrophic consequences."
The top Russian official also described the speculations over Iran's
nuclear program as "noise" and reiterated that such allegations "have
political and propaganda objectives, which are far from being
inoffensive."
The US and its close ally Israel have recently intensified their war
rhetoric against Iran. The two arch foes of the Islamic Republic accuse
Iran of seeking a nuclear weapon, while they have never presented any
corroborative document to substantiate their allegations. Both
Washington and Tel Aviv possess advanced weapons of mass destruction,
including nuclear warheads.
Iran vehemently denies the charges, insisting that its nuclear program
is for peaceful purposes only. Tehran stresses that the country has
always pursued a civilian path to provide power to the growing number of
Iranian population, whose fossil fuel would eventually run dry.
Iran has, in return, warned that it would target Israel and its
worldwide interests in case it comes under attack by the Tel Aviv.
The United States has long stressed that military action is a main
option for the White House to deter Iran's progress in the field of
nuclear technology.
Iran has warned that in case of an attack by either the US or Israel, it
will target 32 American bases in the Middle East and close the strategic
Strait of Hormuz.
An estimated 40 percent of the world's oil supply passes through the
waterway.

Iranian mosquitoes to bite US Navy hard

Iranian mosquitos to bite US Navy hard. 46606.jpeg
US Vice Adm. Mark Fox, the commander of the 5th Fleet, fears that Iran
may use mini submarines in case of the conflict in the Persian Gulf.
"They have increased the number of submarines ... they increased the
number of fast attack craft," Vice Admiral Mark Fox told reporters.
"Some of the small boats have been outfitted with a large warhead that
could be used as a suicide explosive device. The Iranians have a large
mine inventory," he added. Fox believes that the Islamic Republic
constantly increases its naval presence in the region. Moreover, Fox
added, Iran can block the Strait of Hormuz - the water artery used to
transport nearly 40 percent of world's crude.
According to US intelligence, the Iranian Navy has ten "suicide boats."
Fox added that US troops would be able to prevent the attempts to block
the strategically important strait. However, he says that the US should
not ignore the Iranian threats. According to him, Iran's use of mini
submarines can cause very serious problems in the region, which will be
very hard to cope with for the US.
The Islamic Republic has been developing its "mosquito fleet" during the
recent years. Iran builds missile and torpedo boats, as well as the
fleet of mini subs. It is worthy of note that during the times of the
Cold War, the majority of analysts were certain that "mosquito forces"
would not be able to play an important role in global conflicts.
They particularly referred to the WWII experience saying that multiple
torpedo boats were one of the least efficient weapons. The boats were
presumably used for auxiliary missions, such as intelligence operations,
building minefield obstacles and landing commandoes.
Few positive things were said about mini submarines too. Soviet and
Western experts believed that such subs did not play a decisive role in
WWII. Small submarines were of small range for their operations, let
alone their low technical performance.
Nevertheless, fast boats and small submarines pose a serious danger to
combat vessels. It would be enough to say that there was a speedy
inflatable boat used to attack the USS Cole off Yemen in 2000.
Nowadays, the Iranian Navy has up to 1,500 speedy boats. Nearly all of
them can be used for suicide attacks.
As for the possible use of small submarines, this is a relatively new
way of struggle for Iran. The Islamic Republic owns both Iranian and
North Korean 90-110 tonnage midget subs. The Iranian subs are based on
the well-known Italian minisubs.
Konstantin Sivkov, the Vice President of the Academy for Geopolitical
Problems, said in an interview with Pravda.Ru that Iran's suicide subs
would not be as efficient as it may seem.
"The variants of the torpedoes like those used by the Japanese during
WWII proved to be inefficient. That was mostly because of low technical
characteristics. First off, they could not operate autonomously too far
from the basic forces of the navy. In addition, the equipment of such
torpedoes reduced their speed. To crown it all, if they were detected,
it was very easy to destroy them. Common submarines can fully replace
midget subs.
"Modern underwater commando forces can indeed cause considerable damage
to the enemy. However, it can only happen in case of unexpected attacks
against naval bases or against the vessels traveling at low speeds. This
is not going to work in the Persian Gulf, because the Americans defend
their bases well, and their vessels travel at high speeds. The Iranian
midget subs are slow and quite noisy.
"I'd be more concerned about common diesel-powered submarines, which
Iran has. They are known as "black holes" because of their very low
noise level. It is very hard to detect such submarines even with the
help of modern equipment," the expert said.
We would also like to mention here that the development of missile
weapons after WWII has increased the opportunities of the mosquito
fleet. The boats equipped with anti-ship missiles can obviously conduct
highly efficient attacks.
The events of 1984-1989, known as the Tanker War, showed that such
vessels could be efficient. The Iranians managed to strike more than 400
targets without the use of suicide attackers. Those were not only
tankers, but also oil rigs. They even paralyzed navigation in the
Persian Gulf for a while.
The administration of the Islamic Republic was perfectly aware of the
fact that it would not be able to have the navy comparable to that of
the US. They used the "mosquito fleet" instead. Will the Americans be
able to protect huge Saudi tankers?

Turkey has recently launched the early warning radar station - a part of
NATO's missile system, which the USA has been building near Russia's
borders. The radar station will be controlled from Germany. The station
is located in the town of Malatya, which 500 kilometers to the
south-east from Ankara and some 700 kilometers from the border with
Iran. Turkish and US servicemen will serve at the object.
Turkey agreed to deploy the radar station on its territory in September
2011. Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan stated back then that the
deployment of the radar in Turkey would be an important step for the
whole region.
The data from the station will be transferred to command posts in the
United States and to the ships equipped with AEGIS systems (sea-based
missile defense systems). NATO officials stated that the radar station
was deployed in Turkey in connection with the growing threat for Iran to
use small and medium range missiles in the Middle East.
Several local politicians stood up against the deployments of the
elements of NATO's missile defense system in Turkey. They believe that
the West would thus get Turkey involved in a possible conflict with
Teheran.
Needless to say that Iran was strongly against the deployment of the
missile defense system in Turkey. Iranian officials claimed that such a
move could only exacerbate tension in the region. Turkish officials
responded with saying that the deployment of the missile defense system
elements was not aimed against any other country.
The deployment of the radar station raised concerns among other
countries of the region indeed. The distance from the station to Syria,
for example, is a bit more than 200 kilometers. Syrian President Bashar
Assad pays a lot of attention to his missile potential. His generals are
certain that hundreds of Syrian short-range missiles would guarantee no
aggression against Syria. Syrian officials earlier stated that their
country would shower Turkey and Israel with missiles in case of
aggression.
Moreover, many Syrian analysts say that the deployment of the radar
station in Turkey proves the preservation of the military alliance
between Ankara and Tel Aviv. Israel will also be receiving the data from
the Turkish radar.
Russia was not thrilled with the news either. NATO invited Russia to
take part in the project, but the talks came to a standstill. Russia
also tried to obtain legal guarantees saying that the system would not
be aimed against her, but the US refused to do it.
NATO's Secretary General Rasmussen set out a hope that the adequate
political agreement with Moscow could be achieved before the Russia-NATO
summit, which is to take place in Chicago in the spring of the current
year. However, chances for that are slim, because Russia will only be
able to play the role of a silent observer. NATO can only offer Russia
to sit and watch its strength growing.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (read article) stated in November 2011
that Russia would take a complex of measures in response to the
deployment of the missile defense system in Europe. However, Konstantin
Sivkov, the first vice president of the Academy of Geopolitical
Problems, told Pravda.Ru that Russia had practically nothing to respond
to the threat from NATO.
"As for Iskander systems, they can be used against the objects of
missile defense in Poland. Iskanders would have to be deployed either in
Russia's Kaliningrad region or in Belarus. However, it will be
impossible to hit the targets in Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. The
radius of Iskander complexes is 280 kilometers. In addition, the
Americans believe that they will be able to neutralize this virtual
threat with the help of ATACMS missile complexes.
"Russia will not be able to use nuclear weapons in this situation. We
have our aviation, but I seriously doubt that the Russian combat
aviation will be able to win a battle just because of the enemy's
considerable superiority in the air.
"We can use cruise missiles. However, Russia does not have enough
vessels to patrol NATO's coasts. There are also strategic aircraft that
can launch cruise missiles and remain invulnerable to the enemy.
However, the Russian arsenal of cruise missiles is not enough either.
Our missiles can not be compared to the Tomahawks that can strike
targets at distances of up to 2,500 kilometers," the expert said.

Analyst: US, Europe Seeking to Destabilize Region by Supporting MKO
TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Pakistani analyst blasted the US and European
states' support for the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO),
and stressed that the western states are seeking to destabilize the
region by supporting the terrorist group.
In an interview with Habilian website, the official website of Iran's
Habilian Association - a human rights group formed by the families of
17,000 terror victims in Iran - Seyed Feiz Hussein Naqshbandi described
US and European supports for the MKO as "political and immoral."
He added the US seeks to create insecurity in the countries opposed to
the colonial policies of America by such measures.
Naqshbandi said that the supports of the United States and some European
countries for terrorists are aimed at "creating turmoil and turbulence
in the Middle East."
He further explained that "unity and alliance of the countries in the
region can neutralize the American efforts" to destroy the unity of the
neighboring countries.
Earlier reports said that the ringleaders of the terrorist Mojahedin-e
Khalq Organization who were under the Iraqi government's pressures to
leave the country have transferred a number of the group's members to
the European countries.
According to the report, the 200 members of the terrorist MKO who had
disappeared from the notorious Camp Ashraf in Iraq in past months have
been reappearing in European countries.
The MKO has been in Iraq's Diyala province since the 1980s.
The MKO, whose main stronghold is in Iraq, is blacklisted by much of the
international community, including the United States.
The MKO is behind a slew of assassinations and bombings inside Iran, a
number of EU parliamentarians said in a recent letter in which they
slammed a British court decision to remove the MKO from the British
terror list. The EU officials also added that the group has no public
support within Iran because of their role in helping Saddam Hussein in
the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).
The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the
revolution in a bid to take control of the newly established Islamic
Republic. It killed several of Iran's new leaders in the early years
after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali
Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief,
Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by MKO members
in 1981.
The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein
and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd
uprisings in the country.
The terrorist group joined Saddam's army during the Iraqi imposed war on
Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian
civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.
Since the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, the group, which now adheres to a
pro-free-market philosophy, has been strongly backed by
neo-conservatives in the United States, who also argue for the MKO to be
taken off the US terror list.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel accused arch-enemies Iran and its Lebanese
ally Hezbollah of being behind twin bomb attacks that targeted Israeli
embassy staff in India and Georgia on Monday, wounding four people.
Tehran denied involvement in the attacks, which amplified tensions
between two countries already at loggerheads over Iran's nuclear
program, and accused Israel of carrying out the attacks itself.
Hezbollah made no comment.
In the Indian capital New Delhi, a bomb wrecked a car taking an Israeli
embassy official to pick up her children from school, police said. The
woman needed surgery to remove shrapnel but her life was not in danger.
Her driver and two passers-by suffered lesser injuries.
Israeli officials said an attempt to bomb an embassy car in the Georgian
capital Tbilisi failed, and the device was defused.
Israel had put its foreign missions on high alert ahead of the fourth
anniversary this past Sunday of the assassination in Syria of the
military mastermind of Hezbollah, Imad Moughniyeh - an attack widely
assumed to be the work of Israeli agents.
Israel is believed to be locked in a wider covert war with Iran, whose
nuclear program has been beset by apparent sabotage, including the
unclaimed killings of several Iranian nuclear scientists, most recently
in January.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed both Iran and Hezbollah,
accusing them of responsibility for a string of recent attempted attacks
on Israeli interests in countries as far apart as Thailand and
Azerbaijan.
"Iran and its proxy Hezbollah are behind each of these attacks," said
Netanyahu, who dismisses Iran denials that it is trying to develop a
nuclear weapon. "We will continue to take strong and systematic, yet
patient, action against the international terrorism that originates in
Iran."
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast rejected
Netanyahu's accusation, saying it was Israel that had carried out the
attacks as part of its psychological warfare against Iran.
"It seems that these suspicious incidents are designed by the Zionist
regime and carried out with the aim of harming Iran's reputation," the
official news agency IRNA quoted Mehmanparast as saying.
Israeli officials have long made veiled threats to retaliate against
Lebanon for any Hezbollah attack on their interests abroad, arguing that
as the Islamist group sits in government in Beirut, its actions reflect
national policy.
White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters in Washington that the
United States had no information yet on who was responsible, adding:
"These incidents underscore our ongoing concerns of the targeting of
Israeli interests overseas."
MOTORCYCLE ATTACK
The New Delhi blast took place some 500 meters (yards) from the official
residence of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
B.K. Gupta, the New Delhi police commissioner, said a witness had seen a
motorcyclist stick a device to the back of the car, which had diplomatic
registration plates.
"The eyewitness ... says it (was) some kind of magnetic device. As soon
as the motorcycle moved away a good distance from the car, the car blew
up and it caught fire," said Gupta.
The Iranian scientist killed in Tehran last month died in a similar such
attack by a motorcyclist who attached a device to his car. No one has
claimed responsibility for that, although Iran was quick to accuse
agents of Israel and its U.S. ally.
Israel named the injured woman as Talya Yehoshua Koren, who worked at
the embassy and was married to the defense attache.
"She was able to drag herself from the car and is now at the American
hospital, where two Israeli doctors are treating her," an Israeli
Defense Ministry spokesman said.
Thailand said last month its police had arrested a Lebanese man linked
to Hezbollah, and that he later led them to a warehouse stocked with
bomb-making materials. Also last month, authorities in Azerbaijan
arrested two people suspected of plotting to attack Israel's ambassador
and a local rabbi.
In a speech on January 24, Israel's military chief of staff,
Lieutenant-General Benny Gantz, accused Hezbollah of trying to carry out
proxy attacks while avoiding direct confrontation.
"During this period of time, when our enemies in the north avoid
carrying out attacks, fearing a harsh response, we are witnesses to the
ongoing attempts by Hezbollah and other hostile entities to execute
vicious terror attacks at locations far away from the state of Israel,"
Gantz said.
"I suggest that no one test our resolve."
Israel and Hezbollah fought an inconclusive and costly war across the
Lebanese border in 2006.

Two Iranians arrested over Bangkok bomb blasts
Last Updated: 9:36 AM, February 14, 2012
Posted: 7:07 AM, February 14, 2012
BANGKOK -- Two Iranians were arrested following three bomb blasts that
injured at least four people and the suspected bomber in Bangkok on
Tuesday, it was reported.
The first explosion took place at a house rented by three Iranian men in
the Klongton district, south of the city's center, at about 2:00 p.m.
local time, police deputy commissioner Pisit Pisutsak said.
Two of the men fled the scene, and a third man, who was injured, then
tried to take a taxi, Pisit said.
The taxi driver refused to pick up the man, so he threw a bomb, which
rolled underneath the vehicle and exploded, according to The Nation.
The man later attempted to throw a bomb at police outside the nearby
Kasem Pitthaya School, but it slipped out of his hands and blew up.
The man lost both of his legs in the blast and was taken to the
Chulalongkorn Hospital, the newspaper said.
The suspected bomber, identified by police as Saerb Morabi, was
arrested.
Police arrested a second Iranian man, identified as Mohammad Hazaei, 42,
while he was waiting for a flight to Kuala Lumpur, The Nation reported.
The third suspect remained at large.
Police identified the four people who were injured in the blast as
Sinchai Boonsoongnern, Sangwal Horprasartthong, Juthatip Sajjadamrong
and Apichart Khamlue.
They said Sinchai was the taxi driver but did not release any further
details about the others.
Police later used a high-pressure water cannon to defuse another device
found inside the suspects' house, according to AFP.
Thai prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra urged the public "not to panic"
following the attacks.
"Let the police and intelligence agencies do their work, and the public
must not panic because the perpetrator was detained," she told
reporters.
The Israeli embassy is within four blocks of the explosions, and a
Jewish community center is also nearby, according to Sky News.
The attacks come a day after an Israeli diplomat's wife and three Indian
nationals were injured in a car bomb in New Delhi. The attack, along
with a separate car bomb plot against Israeli embassy staff in Georgia,
put Jewish diplomats around the world on high alert.
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Iran of being behind
the attacks, although Tehran immediately branded the accusation as
"sheer lies."
Last month, Thai police charged a Lebanese man, with alleged links to
terror group Hizbollah, of planning an attack in Bangkok. The US had
earlier issued a warning that foreign terrorists might be plotting
attacks in Bangkok.
REUTERS Cleaners sweep the road as police and forensic experts
investigate the site where a man blew himself up in Bangkok.

been reappearing in European countries.

Dershowitz: Strike on Iran legally justified
Senior jurist Alan Dershowitz says Israeli strike against Iran is
'proactive self defense'
Itamar Eichner
Jurist Alan Dershowitz, who is considered one of the world's foremost
Legal experts, believes that an Israeli strike against Iran's nuclear
facilities is legally justified, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Monday.
Speaking before a Miami conference, Dershowitz said that Iran has taken
enough actions to justify an attack, and that military strike by Israel
is "proactive self defense."
